 Hi my name is Aubrey! I am super excited to learn this semester in EME2040! I hope to learn all about the pros and cons of technology used in classrooms. I want to be able to use technology to the best of my abilities to help the students I am teaching learn the best they can. I want to provide sources and tools that will help students navigate the web in a safe way. Technology can be hard to understand so I hope this course is able to provide me with the information needed to help the ones I am teaching excel!

I have used technology in classes ever since I was in elementary school. When I was in elementary school it was only used for AR testing, which was reading tests we could take from books to earn points! During my middle school years is when laptops started being provided to kids for work to be completed! This is when I was introduced to canvas, and I learned to navigate this website to be able to submit all my work. In high school this continued and I learned about more and more that would help me excel in the classroom.

My biggest personal learning network is people, I learn best from other people, especially my dad. I want to open a preschool and I love learning about the best ways to educate kids. I want to know all the pros and cons about different style of learning, I want to know the right snacks to provide that help with positive brain activity, I want to know what style of learning motivates kids in the best way. I use Grok AI the most as my online tool to help me learn about opening a preschool and the best strategies and then I talk to my dad about everything Grok tells me to get his ideas and thoughts. My dad is a entrepreneur and I hope my business is as successful as his so I collaborate a lot with him in the business aspect.

    Hi Aubrey! I really enjoyed reading your post and learning about your experiences with technology throughout school. I think it’s awesome that you want to open your own preschool one day! I also think it’s really interesting that you use your dad as part of your personal learning network, especially since he has experience as an entrepreneur. I agree that learning from other people can be so valuable because they can provide advice and perspectives that you may not find online. I’m excited to learn more about how technology can be used to create a safe and engaging learning environment for students too!

    Hi Aubrey! I think your goal of opening A preschool one day is really awesome! Early childhood educations sets such a strong foundation for learners and is incredibly beneficial. I think its great that the skills you learn in this class will help you in the future. Your prior experiences with educational technology will help you in the long run as technology is always evolving. I hope this class answers all the questions you have and will be helpful to you for your future career!

    Hi Aubrey! It's so cool that you want to open a preschool! I think its great that you have your dad as an inspiration and that you're able to collaborate with him. It sounds like he is very helpful with reaching your goals. I also think its great that you're motivated to learn about the best ways to teach! I hope you succeed in your goal of one day opening a preschool.

 If I am being honest I never used MS word in elementary school or high school. I know how to work MS word though. However I always used Google Docs whether it was to take notes, write an essay, draft an email, make a list of sort, etc. I would say I am pretty much an expert at working most Google websites. I honestly find them less confusing the Microsoft resources.  I believe the most meaningful ISTE standard to me is citizen. I believe creating a positive environment for students is the most important thing you can do. Having an environment where kids feel safe and included makes or breaks a class. Kids need to be positively reinforced when they do good things to be able to learn the difference between good and bad behavior.  I do agree with the term digital native, because I believe this current generation is the most equipped in technology. I believe as a teacher it is vital to understand the importance of copyright because I will be creating instructional content and asking students to create their own work. When it comes to me making materials, I will start by using my own content and resources. However, when I need to use other sources I will cite them correctly and give credit where it is due. I will teach students the importance of giving credit to sources and not copying others work. I believe understanding copyright and fair use will make me a more responsible teacher and I will be able to teach my students to respect others work.  One technological implementation issue that means a lot to me is student privacy.
